Answers to a few common questions:
Ñ "What are the 'extra bonuses' referred to in the instructions?" Play long enough and you'll probably discover them by accident. If you're really stumped, send me email and I'll clue you in. Requests from non-registered users will be denied.
Ñ "Is there a DOS or Windows version of Tetris Max?" No, the only version is the Macintosh version. I have no plans to port the game to other systems.
Ñ "What is the best high score you've seen?" Care needs to be taken in comparing high scores from different versions of Tetris Max. Versions 2.3 and later are faster and harder than previous versions, so high scores from these versions will therefore be lower. The best score I've seen on one of the older versions is just over 200,000. On the newer version, the best I've seen is roughly 52,000. My personal best on the newer version is about 40,000.
Ñ "I'm new to Mac programming. How do I get started?" First you'll need a compiler, probably either C or Pascal. I recommend and use the Think C compiler. Next, you'll need some reference books. The "Inside Macintosh" series of books published by Addison Wesley is like the encyclopedia of Mac information. It's an extremely valuable reference, but a lousy way to learn the stuff for the first time. For that purpose, I recommed the Macintosh C Programming Primer (volumes I and II) by Dave Mark, also published by Addison Wesley. Finally, it'll really help if you have somebody else's source code that you can look at for guidance. Joining a local user group can be helpful for this purpose. The USENET newsgroup comp.sys.mac.programmer is also an excellent source of program snippets and other good information.
Notes about the music:
Ñ Background music files must be kept in a folder called "Tetris Max Music", and this folder must be in the same folder as the Tetris Max application.
Ñ The background music only works with a 68020 or better CPU.
